​Tom Salem Memorial Scholarship Application

Scholarship eligibility guidelines include that the applicant must reside in the area served by the Memphis Chapter (roughly a 125-mile radius around the city of Memphis), should be pursuing post-secondary education towards a degree in meteorology and/or atmospheric sciences in the upcoming school year, and will be taking multiple classes towards that degree during that academic year.

Congratulations to our 2025 recipient, Matthew Lentz!

It is with great pleasure that we announce the Tom Salem Memorial Scholarship award recipient for 2025 is Matthew Lentz. Matthew is from Conway, AR and is a rising senior at Mississippi State University majoring in Professional Meteorology. He intends on attending graduate school and has a strong interest in conducting research that would allow for weather warnings to better serve communities that are vulnerable to severe weather.
