Congratulations to our 2023 recipient, Kristina Balentine!
It is with great pleasure that we announce that the Tom Salem Memorial Scholarship award recipient for 2023 is Kristina Balentine (pictured). Kristina is from the small town of Smithville, AR, about 40 miles northwest of Jonesboro, and is entering her second year at the graduate level in the Broadcast Meteorology program at Mississippi State University.
Kristina stood out from other applicants both academically and through her community service, in addition to being a well-rounded student with a demonstrated desire to make a difference in the field. Kristina will be presenting her thesis research on visuals and messaging used by broadcast meteorologists that effect action during tornado warning coverage at an upcoming chapter meeting! Congratulations Kristina! |
