The Memphis Chapter of the American Meteorological Society/National Weather Association is excited to announce that it will hold its November meeting in FedEx's Global Operations Control Center on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 starting at 7:00 PM. It is located at 3865 Airways Blvd., Module F just west of Memphis International Airport. We will send detailed directions and instructions on entering the compound later to those who RSVP.
This month we will be taking a tour of the heart of the FedEx airline operations, the impressive Global Operations Control Center, which includes Global Operations Control and the Meteorology departments. We will also get an in-depth demo of the new weather system for FedEx, the Weather INformation Display System (WINDS), which was built by IPS MeteoStar out of Englewood, CO. It is a customized version of the subscription based web site that they have at http://weather.meteostar.com.

We will open the meeting with our usual brief business session. That will be followed by the tour and demo. We will also have refreshments available and, as always, guests are more than welcomed.
