News from the Memphis Chapter

We have wrapped up another successful year for the chapter and are looking forward to what 2011-2012 will bring.  Congratulations to our 2011-2012 Chapter Officers, who will lead the chapter into it's 41st year!

If you as a chapter member wish to assist in making our scholarship program possible, we invite you to donate any amount of money (small or large) to the chapter scholarship fund. You may make checks out to AMS/NWA-Memphis, note "scholarship fund" on the memo line, and bring it to any meeting or contact Treasurer Tom Salem to make other arrangements. We appreciate your support of this valuable program!

We have had some fabulous presentations over the past couple of years, including a tour of the EMA's Emergency Operations Center and VIPER Mobile Command Center, a presentation on storm chasing with Dr. Mike Brown of Mississippi State's NOMISSIST program, a study of quasi-linear convective systems by Ron Przybylinski of St. Louis University, a study of the 2004 and 2005 hurricane seasons with Stacy Stewart from the National Hurricane Center, and a discussion on polygon warnings led by Dan McCarthy of the Storm Prediction Center.
